Sector coupling, i.e. the networking of different areas of the energy industry (power generation, heat supply, industry, transport, etc.), is imperative for the switch from fossil to renewable energies. For example, electricity from solar or wind energy must be used to power cars, as other forms of energy (e.g. green hydrogen) will not be available in sufficient quantities in the foreseeable future. The situation is similar for heat supply, for example. This requires networks that distribute the energy with the lowest possible losses.
Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen has an important role in the transmission and distribution of electrical energy: 50% of the electricity generated worldwide is regulated with its products. The headquarters of the owner-managed company is in Regensburg.
The "Power Quality Converters", an independent business unit of Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH are located in Berlin. With its power electronics products, MR ensures efficient energy grids for decentralized sector coupling or also in industry and thus promotes the energy turnaround.
The team in Berlin consists of 30 employees in the areas of development, sales, operations and customer service.
At .GUT Am Flughafen 1 , the team is building a "System Integration Center" to test, optimize and demonstrate the efficient coupling of generation by means of photovoltaics, storage and consumption (charging of e-cars) with regeneratively generated energy. In doing so, the team is working closely with other community members.
